Mountain FC Closes Out League Play in Impressive Fashion!
In the final weekend of Super-Y League play, Mountain FC teams combined for a 6-1-1 record versus Coastal FC and Revolution FC and claimed a fourth qualifying spot at the North American Finals. Highlights of the weekend include the U15 Boys picking up a 4-2 victory in their final match versus Coastal FC. Having already claimed a Finals spot, the Boys were aiming for top spot in the very tight Northwest Division and clinched it with their win. Well done boys! Congratulations also go out to the U16 Boys who began their season with two wins and two losses, then ran off an impressive seven wins out of eight matches to claim a Finals trip on the final day of play. Facing yet another weekend of must win matches, the boys dispatched Coastal FC on Saturday with a comfortable 3-0 shutout. On Sunday, the task was made difficult in the first half as the team were down to ten players with the expulsion of a Mountain FC player. Only minutes later, Revolution FC capitalized on their numerical advantage and scored the game's first goal. However, this appeared to energize the Mountain FC players who found an equalizer before halftime. Knowing a draw would not be good enough, Mountain FC pressed the issue in the second half and were rewarded during a scramble that saw the ball find its way into the net. For the remainder of the match, Mountain FC dug in and kept their form to deny their opponents any further threats. The game ended 2-1 Mountain FC. A well-earned victory for the players and staff who now join the U13 Girls, the U16 Girls and U15 Boys in the USL Super-Y League Finals in Tampa Bay, Florida, December 2-6, 2011. Congratulations on a great season to all Mountain FC teams!
Congratulations Mountain FC U16 Girls!
The Mountain FC U16 Girls capped an incredible month of July by winning their fifth must-win game in a row to claim a spot at the Super-Y League Finals in December. Needing to keep pace with Coastal FC who had gone undefeated and held a superior goal difference, the Mountain FC Girls put together a great run of four victories while scoring 20 goals. This more than made up the goal differential and set the stage for the final regular season game at Burnaby Lake West versus Coastal FC for the right to represent the Northwest Conference in Florida. A large and energetic crowd turned out to support both teams who put on a great display of intense soccer. The first half ended scoreless with Mountain FC carrying the play and coming close with a strike off the crossbar. Coastal FC continued to defend into the second half knowing a draw would get them through. Mountain FC continued to press and their efforts were rewarded in the 60th minute, taking a 1-0 lead. Coastal FC pushed in the final 10 minutes but the Mountain FC Girls held strong and celebrated a well-deserved victory at the final whistle. Congratulations to the U16 Girls who join the U13 Girls and U15 Boys as qualifiers for the North American Finals! The U16 Boys will look to earn their spot this weekend with games versus Coastal FC and Revolution FC. Good luck to all teams in the final weekend of Super-Y League play!
Amazing Weekend for Mountain FC
Mountain FC hosted the West Coast Capitals and Thompson Okanagan FC the weekend of July 16/17. A total of 14 games were played with Mountain FC teams recording an amazing 12 victories and 2 defeats. More impressively, 10 wins were by shutout and our teams combined to score 48 goals. The weekend was highlighted by the U13 Girls and U15 Boys clinching qualifying spots to the Super-Y League North American Finals in Florida in December. Congratulations to both these teams! The U16 Girls took care of back-to-back wins to set up a showdown with Coastal FC on Wednesday night for the right to attend the Finals. The U16 Boys also kept their qualifying hopes alive by winning both of their games and will look to claim a spot next weekend. Meanwhile, the U15 Girls played valiantly in their last two games of the season but just came up a little short for a spot at the Finals. Well done to all of our teams for a wonderful display of exciting soccer! Mountain FC looks forward to hosting Coastal FC and Revolution FC next week.
Mountain FC Teams Stay in the Hunt for Qualifying Spots
It was a good week as Mountain FC teams participated in a total of 15 games, winning 10 and drawing two. These results kept many of the teams alive in the battle for Super-Y League Finals placements in Florida. The U13 Boys got things going mid-week with an important win over Coquitlam Metro Ford and followed that up with a come from behind win against Abbotsford. The U14 Boys gave up a late equalizer on Saturday but rebounded with a high scoring victory the following day. The U15 Boys didn't have a particularly strong performance in their Saturday match and gave up a last second equalizer on Sunday but they still control their fate for a spot in the Finals. The U16 Boys also had a disappointing first match but rebounded nicely with an important win in Abbotsford. On the girls side, the U13 team just keeps on rolling with two more emphatic shutout victories virtually securing their ticket to the Finals. The U14 Girls played perhaps their best match on Saturday handing the previously unbeaten Coquitlam Metro Ford their first loss. The U15 Girls recorded a dramatic come from behind victory on Saturday and in spite of having a setback on Sunday, have given themselves a chance with two games remaining in their schedule. Finally, the U16 Girls recorded convincing back-to-back victories over Abbotsford keeping themselves very much in the race for the one qualifying position in the Division. This coming weekend is a critical one for many of the teams. Mountain FC will host the West Coast Capitals and Thompson Okanagan FC. Good luck to all teams!
Mountain FC Blasts Off in Bellingham!
Three Mountain FC teams participated in the Baker Blast Soccer Tournament in Bellingham from June 24 - 26. The U12 Boys carried their high standard of play from League games into the tournament. Their excellent form took them all the way to the Final but unfortunately, they came up a little short in this last game. The boys were undefeated to that point of the season and while they may have been disappointed not to close it out, they should take great pride on an outstanding season overall. The U12 Girls also took an extraordinary record into the Tournament and were quick to show the opposition that the team is for real. The girls cruised through the Tournament winning all of their games and were declared Champions capping an incredible undefeated season. Not to be outdone, the U13 Girls also dispatched each of their opponents en route to the Final where they too, claimed the Championship. This team has set a goal to qualify for the Super-Y League Finals in Florida and to date have shown they won't be denied.
Well done to all of the teams, coaches, managers and families on a remarkable weekend!
Competitive Weekend for Mountain FC
Mountain FC teams participated in a total of 12 games over the June 18/19 weekend managing points in half of them. The U12 Boys concluded their remarkable undefeated season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Metro Ford on Saturday. This team has displayed some wonderful soccer over the past two months and will close their schedule in tournament play at the Baker Blast this coming weekend. Not to be out done, the U12 Girls closed their regular schedule with another dominating performance winning 6-0 against Revolution FC. They too have gone undefeated and will join the U12 Boys at the Baker Blast. Congratulations to both teams, staff and parents on a great run. In other matches, the U13 Boys struggled against a strong Metro Ford team and the U14 Boys battled hard but fell short, 0-1 also to Metro Ford. The U16 Girls came up a little short, 2-3 to Coastal while the U14 Girls dropped back-to-back games against Metro Ford but rebounded well in the second match. The U15 Girls rallied for a 2-1 victory on Sunday after being defeated by the same Metro Ford team the day before. The U13 Girls couldn't seem to get their usual possession game established and settled for a 1-1 draw. The final two games of the weekend saw the U15 and U16 Boys pick up noteworthy victories against two very strong teams from Metro Ford. A great display of competitive soccer throughout the weekend. Well done to all teams! Game reports are filed in the team submenus.
Another Productive Weekend for Mountain FC
Mountain FC teams participated in a total of 11 games on June 11/12 gaining points in nine of them. Our U12 teams continued their strong play going undefeated in four games versus Abbotsford and Coastal FC. The boys picked up a win and a draw while the girls tallied two more wins. The other Mountain FC teams made the trip up to Kelowna/Vernon for games versus Thompson Okanagan FC. While the U15 Girls and U16 Boys were defeated, the U13 Girls, U13 Boys, U15 Boys and U16 Girls all picked up victories. The U14 Boys settled for a draw. Game reports to be posted in the team submenus.
Mountain FC Keeps the Ball Rolling
With a break in League play, several Mountain FC teams took the opportunity to travel to Seattle over the long weekend to participate in the Northwest Invitational Tournament at the Starfire Soccer Complex. Competition was of a very high standard and included the BC Provincial Teams, Coquitlam Metro Ford and the Seattle Sounders Academy Teams. Mountain FC teams acquitted themselves very well with special notice to the Boys U15 Team who finished undefeated and won their Group.
Back in Super-Y League play, the weekend of May 28/29 saw Mountain FC teams participate in a total of 11 matches, winning eight, losing two and drawing one. The U12 Boys got things started on Saturday with a great display by them and the Coastal team. Our boys came away with a 1-0 win then travelled to Abbotsford on Sunday and beat the Mariners 5-0. The U12 Girls had similar plans and despite carrying much of the play settled for a 0-0 draw with Coastal but followed that up with a convincing 4-0 victory in Abbotsford. At Burnaby Lake West on Sunday, the Club hosted the Abbotsford Mariners with the U13 Girls, U15 Girls and U16 Girls all gaining victories. Meanwhile, on the Boys side, the U13 and U15 teams suffered defeats but the U14 and U16 teams earned victories. Look for game reports to be posted on the team submenus.
Super Weekend for Mountain FC
The weekend of May 14/15 had the Mountain FC teams participate in a total of 10 games. The U12 teams got things started on Saturday with a match up versus Coquitlam Metro Ford. While the Girls settled for a
2-2 draw, the Boys put on an impressive performance with a 4-1 win. It was a quick turnaround for the U12 teams as they joined five other teams for the trip to Victoria to play the West Coast Capitals. The U14 Girls were already in the Capital city having played and won 2-0 on Saturday. They followed this up with a 2-2 draw on Sunday giving them four points and a nice bounce back from their opening day defeat. Also on Sunday, the U12 teams carried on their fine play with the Boys winning 3-0 and the Girls, 5-0. The U14 Boys, although playing well and carrying a distinct territorial advantage, fell 1-2 with two very harsh calls making the difference. The U16 Boys played through a frustrating and scoreless first half before pressing the opposition and coming away with a deserved 4-0 victory. The U13 Boys put on a nice display of possession soccer but in the end had to work hard for a narrow 2-1 win. Finally, the U13 Girls kicked off their season with an emphatic 7-0 victory with many of their goals making the highlight reel.
Overall, 7 wins, 2 draws and one defeat for a very successful weekend. Well done Mountain FC! Game reports will be filed in the team submenus.
Mountain FC Kicks Off the 2011 Season
Four of the Mountain FC teams were in action on May 7th to kick off the 2011 USL Super-Y League schedule. It was a day of mixed results as the Club recorded a win, a draw and two losses.
The U12 Girls got things started with an emphatic 5 - 0 victory over the Surrey Revolution at Newton Athletic Park. The girls also recorded an impressive 2 - 1 win over the Whitecaps Prospects mid week. A great start to their season. Also out at Newton versus Revolution, the U14 Boys weren't able to hold two leads and eventually settled on a 2 - 2 draw, while the U16 Boys, in spite of controlling the tempo for most of the game, were on the wrong end of a 3 - 1 score line. Across town at South Surrey Athletic Park, the U14 Girls also came up short against their opponents from Coastal FC, dropping their first game by the same 3 - 1 score. Game reports will be filed in the team submenus. Next week, Mountain FC teams travel to Victoria for a series of matches versus the West Coast Capitals.

Super Y Final - Tuesday, November 23, 2010
U16 Boys vs Ironbound SC
Result: 1 - 2
It was heartbreak for Mountain FC for a second time in consecutive years as the U16 Boys came up short to Ironbound SC. It was a typical nervous start to the Final as both teams assessed each other early on. With neither team really creating any chances, the first break came at 20 minutes when a lost ball in the midfield sprung an Ironbound striker who skillfully chipped an on-rushing Jordan Campbell to the far post. A well taken goal and remarkably the first conceded by Mountain in the tournament. Mountain responded well to the setback and generated a couple of chances before the half but Ironbound held.
The second half saw an inspired start by Mountain with Lucas Sweda finding himself alone in the box in the 44th minute only to have the Ironbound keeper make the first of several critical saves. Unfortunately, this missed opportunity was punished by a second Ironbound goal just minutes later through a well engineered combination at the top of the box leading to a good strike and no chance for Andrew Hicks. Mountain though, refused to quit and pressed back as Ironbound resorted to a high defensive line and offside trapping tactics. This caught Mountain players several times until a break through at 65 minutes sent Tristan Wallis-Mayers in alone. He finished it well and Mountain were back in it. Just minutes later, once again the trap was beat and Colton Walker was in clean but at an angle favouring the keeper who was able to make a leg save. Mountain kept the pressure while Ironbound was desperately hanging on and at 75 minutes, it looked like Mountain found an equalizer as Karl Bhandal pounced on a rebound to score. However, the assistant referee raised his flag ruling that Bhandal was in an offside position when the initial shot was taken. A huge emotional let down for Mountain after battling hard the entire half. Ironbound managed to clear the last few surges into their third to preserve the Championship. A great effort once again by an excellent group of Mountain FC players. Congratulations to all of the boys, Andrea Agnoloni, Nour Fathy and Daniel van Blerk.
Match Day 4 - Monday, November 22, 2010
U14 Boys vs Ironbound SC
Result: 3 - 1
The team finished the tournament with a consolation match against an undefeated (three draws) Ironbound SC. This team are the defending champions at this age group so Mountain found themselves in tough after a difficult loss yesterday. The boys struggled to find their form early on which provided the opposition with a few early chances. Conor O'Callaghan was able to block a shot headed for an empty net helping his keeper in a desperate situation. At 23 minutes, Ironbound's territorial advantage led to the first goal as a 20 yard shot took a deflection before beating Daniel van Woerkens. In the 32nd minute, van Woerkens made the save of the tournament denying a second goal from point blank range. This was a critical save at a time when a two goal lead would have been difficult to recover from. Mountain pressed back for the last few minutes of the half which was a sign for the second.
From the whistle, Mountain were energized and slowly took charge of the game winning important tackles and working some nice combinations. They were unlucky on several occasions but were determined to change the momentum. At 23 minutes, Race Williams struck a free kick from just outside the box requiring a good save from the keeper. While Mountain continued to press, their hard work was yet to be rewarded. Finally, with seven minutes remaining a Daniel Pervan corner kick found the head of Jeffrey Ramen for the equalizer. Mountain were not satisfied and went searching for a winner. They thought they had it two minutes later on a wonderfully struck free kick from Parker Ellis while the keeper lined up his wall, but the referee called it back inexplicably. Rather than let this get them down, Mountain kept coming and a great individual effort from Race Williams put them ahead in the 32nd minute. The final nail came in the last minute as KD Konneh finished a diagonal ball played in by Williams. An incredible finish as Mountain struck for three goals in the final 7 minutes. This team gained strength as the tournament proceeded and were very unlucky not to find themselves in a semi final match today. Well done boys...
U16 Boys vs Super Nova SC
Result: 3 - 0
After being finalists last year, this group has been determined to get another shot for the Championship and their play in today's semi final was clearly indicative of this. In the first minute of play, a good build up from Lucas Reis and Michael McKinnon led to Lucas Sweda scoring at the far post. Mountain were off and running but at 4 minutes, some lazy defending meant Jordan Campbell had to make an important save. In the 9th, Reis again was provider with a perfect through ball for Gi Sung Ha who found the far top corner as he slipped past the Nova defenders. Mountain continued to enjoy stretches of possession and controlled the tempo of the game. In the 15th, a Jayson Santiago half volley bounced off the crossbar and in the 25th, Reis forced another good save from the keeper. To their credit, Nova were able to shift the momentum for the next 10 minutes and came close as Colton Walker cleared one off the line but this surge was stifled when Lucas Sweda accepted an Anthony Bordignon diagonal pass, cut to the middle, and struck a left footer just inside the near post. This came just before the half and took the wind out of the Nova sails.
Although the second half produced a few opportunities, both teams were quite content to see the game through. Mountain used the opportunity to substitute players in and out of the game in order to preserve strength and ensured good team shape to deny Nova any scoring chances. A great team performance which secured another trip to the Final and a chance to avenge the shootout loss of a year ago. Mountain will play Ironbound SC at 9:30am local time. Good luck boys...
Match Day 3 - Sunday, November 21, 2010
U14 Boys vs New Jersey Stallions
Result: 1 - 2
This game was presented with all the drama it needed as a draw from the other group match meant the winner would advance to the semis. Mountain were off to a dream start as Race Williams curled a terrific 20 yard free kick into the top corner at the 4 minute mark. The keeper could only watch it as the shot was perfectly struck. After this, the teams settled in to an exchange of possessions for short stretches. At 12 minutes Parker Ellis forced a good save from the keeper on an angled shot. In the 18th minute with New Jersey pressing, a loose piece of defending led to a cross and a headed goal to equalize. New Jersey were energized by the goal and had Mountain chasing the game for a few minutes. At 27 minutes though, a nice through ball from KD Konneh to Ellis forced an excellent leg save from the Jersey keeper. The score line at the half was 1 - 1.
Within the first minute of the second half, a sloppy control by a New Jersey defender led to a Mountain penalty kick and a chance to seize the game. Unfortunately, Race Wiliiams' shot narrowly missed the net giving Jersey a reprieve but rather than being demoralized, the Mountain players continued to press and enjoyed a distinct territorial advantage. At 41 minutes, Zack Or let go with a measured shot forcing yet another reaching save from the keeper. At 50 minutes, a dispossession in Mountain's half created an opening for New Jersey and a perfectly weighted cross was headed home very skillfully. This came completely against the run of play as Mountain was enjoying long stretches of possession in Jersey's half. With the lead, the New Jersey coach resorted to five defenders and they were successful in stifling any further Mountain attacks. A gutsy performance by the boys and like yesterday, an unfair result given their quality of play and commitment. They will play in a consolation match on Monday.
U16 Boys vs North Virginia Royals
Result: 3 - 0
With their group qualification already secured, the boys looked to maintain their momentum but had an opportunity to roll players in and out of the game. They suffered a setback early on as Gilbert Kyne injured a hamstring and was replaced at 6 minutes. Unfortunately, his continuation in the Finals may be in jeopardy. At 12 minutes, a Michael McKinnon steal in midfield and a knifing pass from Jayson Santiago led to the game's first goal by Lucas Reis. At 31 minutes, McKinnon was involved again as he beat a defender and played in a nice diagonal ball for Santiago to tap home. Mountain played with considerable confidence and were rewarded before the half ended with a third goal. This time Lucas Sweda was the provider and McKinnon added a goal to his earlier helpers by slipping it past the keeper.
With the three goal lead, Mountain were content to play out the second half in comfort and did just that by retaining possession wherever possible. A few chances were exchanged but otherwise, an uneventful half of play. Mountain now moves on to the semi finals on Monday afternoon.
Match Day 2 - Saturday, November 20, 2010
U14 Boys vs Ottawa Fury
Result: 0 - 1
Coming off an inspired win yesterday, the boys started with a few new faces in the line up and were almost ahead in the 4th minute when a long throw in from Nico Tonino-MacDonald was deflected off the underside of the bar by an Ottawa defender. For Mountain, unfortunately this was a sign of how their luck would run on the day. Mountain carried the play from the start and came close again in the 10th with the keeper making a good save off Race Williams after a cross from Parker Ellis. In the 20th minute a free kick from Thomas Tassone was headed just over the bar by Williams. With very few advances into the Mountain defensive third, Ottawa did not trouble the Mountain back four until receiving a free kick just outside the box in the 27th minute. Unbelievably, with their first shot Ottawa went ahead on a well-taken strike leaving little chance for William Diaz. The goal came completely against the run of play and once again, as they did yesterday, the Mountain boys responded well but couldn't equalize before the half.
In the second, Mountain picked up where it left off and established complete territorial dominance. Ottawa was content to sit back with numbers behind the ball. At the 42 minute mark, Tonino-MacDonald just headed over from a corner kick. A few minutes later, a good build up led to a volley from Williams requiring a good save from the keeper. In the 51st, Williams again came close, this time striking the crossbar on a great turn from 18 yards out. In the 62nd, Ottawa managed to clear what looked to be a sure goal off the line. Mountain's bad luck just continued. A few minutes later, remarkably another ball was saved off the line as it bounced towards an empty net. Mountain pressed until the end but just couldn't find the equalizer. A terrific effort by the boys on a day when the ball definitely did not bounce in their favour. It's on to play New Jersey in a must win and and some help in the other group match to qualify for the semis.
U16 Boys vs Schulz Academy
Result: 1-0
In what will be considered one of the best games of the tournament, two quality teams battled hard for 80 minutes with Mountain claiming the three points. For most of the first half, the teams traded possession but play was neutralized by each team's strong midfielders. At the 30 minute mark, Anthony Bordignon swung a corner to the far post which was met by a powerful header from Karl Bhandal. The keeper managed to palm it but couldn't stop it from hitting the corner of the net. 1-0 to Mountain. Schulz pressed after the goal and nearly equalized when Mountain required a goal line clearance following a corner kick scramble.
In the second half, the teams traded marginal chances but again locked into a game of possession and movement. With their slick passing style and flair, Schulz created a great chance in the 48th starting from the back and ending with a masterful solo run by their captain only to have his shot strike the far post. For a 10 minute spell, Schulz had Mountain on the back foot as they dug in for an equalizer. Only the strong defending of the Mountain players, particularly Bhandal, kept Schulz off the score sheet. In the 63rd, Schulz's captain once again demonstrated a very high standard of soccer intelligence and sophistication by taking a free kick early, narrowly going over the target. For the remainder of the match, the Mountain players matched Schulz's intensity and were determined not to give one up. Hard running was required of Michael McKinnon and Gilbert Kyne up front as they would not allow Schulz to build from the back. With minutes remaining, hard tackles increased leading to several cautions but in the end, Mountain earned a tough win. Credit to both teams for playing a very appealing brand of soccer in a game filled with intensity. With the win, Mountain goes to six points and has earned a spot in the semi finals.
Match Day 1 - Friday, November 19, 2010
The Mountain FC teams kicked off the Finals in good form with both picking up important wins in their first games.
U14 Boys vs Wellington Wave
The boys started well and appeared to work off a few nerves but fell behind on a wind-aided free kick in the 16th minute. While this may have unsettled the Mountain players, the response was almost immediate and impressive as KD Konneh equalized in the 20th minute after being set up by Race Williams and Daniel Pervan. Just two minutes later, Thomas Tassone won the ball in midfield and played a wonderful through pass to Parker Ellis who finished it clinically for a 2-1 lead. However, just as it looked as if the boys were settled, an unfortunate deflection from the top of the box eluded goalkeeper Daniel van Woerkens. It remained 2-2 into halftime.
The boys came out determined at the whistle and in the 47th minute, Race Williams found himself alone in the box only to have the Wellington keeper take him down. This meant an expulsion for the keeper and a spot kick to Mountain. Parker Ellis stepped up and credit to the new keeper for making the initial save but Ellis was able to convert the rebound. With the score at 3-2 for most of the second half, Mountain were unlucky not to be ahead by more as the Wellington team began to push forward. Total defending and possession became critical and was rewarded in the last minute when Thomas Tassone again with a great tackle in midfield, had the presence of mind to carry the ball himself avoiding an offside pass and very cooly deposited the ball into the corner of the net. A very good team performance all around. The boys will face the Ottawa Fury tomorrow.
Goals:
1. KD Konneh - 20th min. (Williams, Pervan)
2. Parker Ellis - 22nd min. (Tassone)
3. Parker Ellis - 47th min. (PK)
4. Thomas Tassone - 70th min.
U16 Boys vs Rage SC
This game began tentatively with both teams looking to find their form and assess the opposition. At the 10 minute mark, a breakdown in the Mountain defence led to two outstanding chances for the Rage team, only to be met by two equally outstanding saves by Jordan Campbell. Mountain gained a reprieve and appeared to rally behind their keeper. At the 22 minute mark, Michael McKinnon found himself clear but the Rage keeper was able to equal Campell's heroics. At 25 minutes, Gilbert Kyne was inserted and he immediatley changed the game sending the Rage defenders into fits. He came close just glancing one over the bar and was fouled badly at the top of the box drawing a caution to the Rage defender. In the 36th minute, Paris Gee and Jayson Santiago worked a nice combination on the left flank and the ball eventually came to Tanner Wright who knifed through two defenders before slamming the ball into the far corner. The goal unsettled the Rage team and they conceded a second only minutes later when Gilbert Kyne scored on a header out jumping the keeper on a Santiago cross. 2-0 at the half.
Mountain were much stronger in the second half while Rage appeared to have lost their spirit. Stretches of possession and direct play had Rage on their heels while Mountain were able to roll all of their players. In the 44th minute, Colton Walker made a strong run into the box and was fouled setting up a spot kick for Anthony Bordignon. No mistake by Bordignon who stroked it calmly for a 3-0 lead and a back breaker for Rage SC. In the 65th minute, Gilbert Kyne put on a ball handling clinic drawing and beating two defenders before slipping a perfectly weighted ball for Tanner Wright to finish. A convincing start for the boys who will play a strong Schulz Academy team tomorrow.
Goals:
1. Tanner Wright - 36th min.
2. Gilbert Kyne - 39th min. (Santiago)
3. Anthony Bordignon - 44th min. (PK)
4. Tanner Wright - 65th min. (Kyne)

After a long day of travel on Tuesday, the teams have settled in to their accommodations and ran through a practice today. Understandably, the adjustments are not immediate and heavy legs were the order of the day. After the benefit an additional training session tomorrow, the boys will be ready for Match Day 1 on Friday. More to follow..
2010 Super-Y League North American Finals
Tampa Bay, Florida will once again serve as host city to the Super-Y League North American Finals. The tournament is scheduled for November 19 – 23, 2010 featuring some of the best U13 to U17 players in North America. Mountain FC is very proud to be returning to this prestigious event, this time with our U14 and U16 Boys teams. The players and staff are looking forward to another memorable experience at these Finals and have been busy as the November 16th departure date quickly approaches.
The U14 Boys have been grouped with the New Jersey Stallions, Ottawa Fury and the Wellington Wave from Florida. Much will be asked of the boys to win this group as New Jersey are champions of the Mid Atlantic and Wellington were winners of the Southeast Conference. To add to the intrigue, a match up with the Ottawa Fury will provide an all-Canadian contest. Some of the boys are returning to Florida having competed as U13’s a year ago. This will serve the team well going forward.
The U16 Boys are grouped with the Rage Soccer Club from Pennsylvania, the North Virginia Royals and the Schulz Academy from Boca Raton, Florida. The Royals will be strong as South Atlantic Conference champions while the Rage SC emerges from the very competitive Mid Atlantic Conference. Schulz Academy presents a familiar opponent as they will look to avenge a loss to this same Mountain FC team one year ago. Many from the Mountain FC team are returning after a tremendous Finals last year. Unfortunately, their tournament ended in a penalty shootout in the Final. While finishing silver medalists was a great accomplishment, this group is determined to reach for the gold this year.
Follow our teams at the Finals through daily reports that will be posted here on our main page. Best of Luck boys!
