A hot summers day and a grass field painted the ideal setting for a game of evening soccer. The Mariners played strong direct soccer testing the Mountain defense who stood up well in the first half with some fine saves from Vanessa Campbell. A good team build up saw TJ Coady's effort just go over the cross bar, late on in the first half. However luck was not on Mountain's side as two second half goals from the Abbotsford offense saw Mountain fall eventually by 2 goals to none. Not their finest performance but the Mountain players will look to prepare for an upcoming double-header weekend where they can still mount their attack to the top of the table if they come out with some positive performances.

Mountain FC U15 GIRLS vs Abbotsford Mariners - May 29th

The opening game of the 2011 Super Y League season saw both teams compete in a physical manner while still trying to play attractive attacking soccer. Mountain showed signs of breaking the Mariners defense down early on in the game but it was the Mariners who took the lead in the first half when Devon Kollmyer found a loose ball in the Mountain box and calmly put the ball into the back of the net to make it one nil. During the second half Mountain regained their composure and after a good spell of possession Caitlin Millham made the game level after finishing off a pin point cross from the left side of the field. With time running out Alexis Llewellyn pounced on a poor goal mouth clearance to put Mountain 2 - 1 up. All in all a good start to the season. Special performance mentions should go out to Kim Hoskins, Meagan Burns, JT Coady and Caitlin Millham.
