It was a cool clear summer morning, ideal weather for soccer. The Mountain team was anxious for a rematch against the Coastal team. Shortly after Mountain tied the game Mountain's Emily Neeson rang a shoot of the post but only minutes later Coastal was able to convert and put another one in our net to take the lead 2-1. The Mountain team wasn't going to give up and continued to fight back and put pressure on the Coastal team and were finally rewarded with a goal by Angela Obasohan assisted by Emily Neeson at the 22 minute mark of the second half. Mountain FC U13 GIRLS vs Coquitlam Metro Ford - July 11th
Location : Town Centre West, Coquitlam
Weather : sunny, dry
Mountain FC - 0 : 1 - Coquitlam Metro Ford
Half-time score : 0:1 (mtn:oppos)
On Sunday July 11th the Mountain U13 girls were faced with another early morning start, today against Coquitlam Metro Ford. This was a must win game for the Mountain girls to qualify for Florida. The Coquitlam team came out strong and for the first 10 minutes our girls were scrambling, perhaps it was nerves. Our girls finally settled down and started to play their game and we made some substitutions to ensure that fatigue did not play a factor. We played some good balls through the Coquitlam defense but were called back several times on the offside. With only 2 minutes left in the first half Coquitlam took advantage of a loose ball in our goal mouth and put it in the back of our net to take a 1-0 lead. The second half play was back and forth with no great scoring opportunities for either team. Coquitlam played a very defensive game for the later part of the second half in order to protect their one goal lead. We shortened our defense to move another girl up front in hopes to try and get that equalizer but fail to do so. The final score was 1-0 for Coquitlam. Although we didn't get the results we wanted the team played two strong back to back games this weekend.
