Location : Burnaby Lake West Sports Complex
Weather : Dry
Mountain FC - 6 : 0 - Revolution
Half-time score : 3-0 (mtn:oppos)
Mountain began the game attacking Revolution and enjoyed the majority of possession and looked very comfortable knocking the ball around. In the third minute after a run of passes Sarah Cortese converted a pass from Chelsey Fang and scored the opening goal. Sarah Cortese looked ever so dangerous on the left flank and was about to deliver a superb performance and the best was yet to come. In the tenth minute a great through ball from Janna Maclean ended on the foot of Sarah Cortese who again made no mistake and drove the ball past the keeper. Revolution tried to play possession however was unable to ever penetrate the superb back four and never had a shot in the first half. In the 25th minute Paige Furlan followed up on a rebound on a shot from Janna MacLean and finished past the keeper to make the score 3-0. The first half ended 3-0. The second half was a lot of the same type of football with Mountain keeping possession wide and focussing on two touch soccer and movement from the fullbacks up the field. Sarah Cortese scored in the fortieth and fiftieth minute on two left foot shots past the keeper from the top of the box. The final goal came from Paige Furlan on a great volley from the top of the box past the keeper to make the final score 6-0. Another great performance from the girls, another shutout for Grace Walker and Martina Pettenon, superb four goal performance from Sarah Cortese who along with Janna MacLean and Paige Furlan have made life miserable for every team we have played. The girls look forward to the Baker Blast next weekend and enjoying the weekend while hopefully winning the tournament.

Mountain FC U12 GIRLS vs Coastal FC - June 12th
Location : Surrey Athletic Field
Weather : Sunny and dry field
Mountain FC - 2 : 1 - Coastal FC
Half-time score : 0-0 (mtn:oppos)
Despite having played the previous day, Mountain was looking forward to this rematch after settling for a tie their last game. It was a sunny day and combined with the perfect grass field the girls were excited to get the game started and enjoy the day. Mountain started off slow and appeared to have heavy legs from the previous day and allowed Coastal to own possession for the first fifteen minutes. Mountain was quite content to absorb the pressure and allow Coastal to enjoy possession for the majority of the first half. Mountain began to apply pressure in the last part of the first half however the two central defenders for Coastal were outstanding and did not allow Paige Furlan or Janna MacLean any space to create scoring opportunities. The first half ended 0-0. In the second half, Mountain began to take the game to Coastal and began to attack and create opportunities down both flanks. The outside fullbacks for Mountain, Julia DalSasso and Bianca Mattarollo were outstanding and started all the attacks down the flanks and also defended winning every tackle. In the 45th minute against the run of play, Coastal capitalized on a rebound and opened the scoring and took the lead 1-0. Mountain continued to attack and was determined to even up the score. In the sixtieth minute after a flurry of shots at the Coastal keeper the ball was cleared outside the box to Erica Reis who hit the ball first time into the top corner to tie the game at 1-1. A highlight reel goal! Mountain was not satisfied with the tie and applied constant pressure, and in the sixtieth minute, Janna MacLean made a great run in the box and used her speed to get by the defender, was fouled and Mountain was awarded a penalty shot. Erica Reis stepped up and scored to give Mountain the lead 2-1. The balance of the game was intense with Coastal applying constant pressure and wanted badly to tie the score however it was not to be and Mountain prevailed and the score finished 2-1. Another great performance by Mountain and in particular Chelsea Fang, Julia DalSasso, Miranda Ta, Erica Reis and Janna MacLean and the girls retain their unbeaten record on the season. Another exciting game for the parents who showed their appreciation for the girl’s strong performance with a long round of applause and we now look forward to our last two games against Coquitlam Metro Ford and Surrey Revolution.

Mountain FC - 5 : 1 - Abbotsford FC
Half-time score : 4-0 (mtn:oppos)
Mountain began the game attacking Abbottsford and enjoyed the majority of possession and looked very comfortable knocking the ball around. In the fifth minute after a string of passes along the right flank Paige Furlan opened the scoring on a great finish to the top right corner. Paige Furlan and Janna MacLean have established themselves as two excellent strikers and have caused other defenders trouble all season and today looked to be a similar day for the pair. In the tenth minute a great through ball from Chelsea Fang ended on the foot of Paige Furlan who again made no mistake and drove the ball past the keeper. Abbotsford tried to play possession however was unable to even penetrate the superb back four of Mountain led by Miranda Ta who has been Mountains most reliable and durable defender this season. In the 20th minute Sarah Cortese made a great run into the box and chipped a shot over the keeper to make the score 3-0. Paige Furlan closed the scoring in the 25th minute to close the first half at 4-0. The second half was a lot of the same type of football with Mountain keeping possession wide and focussing on two touch soccer and playing exciting soccer for the fans. In the past Mountain has not played very well at home however today they reversed that trend and never gave Abbotsford any room and completely dominated them from the opening whistle. Against the run of play, Abbotsford scored off a rebound to make the score 4-1. Janna Maclean displayed her exceptional speed and in the 45th minute closed off the scoring to make the final 5-1. Mountain FC - 0 : 0 - Coastal FC
Half-time score : O-O (mtn:oppos)
